Temperatures this morning are well above average, in the mid to upper 40. A few locations in the low 50s though. We're also starting off with some patchy to dense fog. Visibilities at times may be as low as a quarter mile. So you want want to give yourself a little extra time this morning, as the fog will make it hard to see while driving. Also this morning, rain showers and thunderstorms are moving into the area from the southwest. These storms will not be severe. However, the storms will bring us heavy rain, lightning and thunder and possibly some small pea sized hail. Most of these storms should move out of the Tri-States by about noon/1pm. After that, we may see some of the clouds clear out, possibly leading to a little sunshine. If this happens, that's not a good thing. The sunshine would just add to the instability for the storms expected early this evening and tonight. Highs today will top out in the low 70s and it's going to be windy with gusts up to 32 mph. Everyone in the Tri-States is under a risk of severe storms this evening and tonight. The severe storms aren't a guarantee, but we have all the ingredients needed. The main threats would be large hail, damaging winds and I can't rule out a few tornadoes. A strong cold front will move through very early tomorrow morning. Tomorrow's highs will happen shortly after midnight, near 60 degrees. However, cold air will very quickly move into the Tri-States so by 9am/10am temperatures will have fallen into the 30s. Winds tomorrow could gust up to 30 mph so wind chill values through the day will be in the 20s. We should see some decent sunshine Saturday, but it will still be cool with highs only in the low 40s.
