Severe Storms Today Lead to Cool and Breezy Weekend - wyomingnewsnow.tv

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Lots of severe thunderstorms covering much of the state today with numerous warnings. Strong damaging winds have been the trend with these severe storms. We have already seen gusts over 70 MPH in some locations throughout the day.

These storms have allowed conditions to remain on the cooler side going into the afternoon and evening time. Highs around the state were warmer toward the south where conditions were clearer, and cooler to the north where the majority of storms took place. Our warning map it covered all around with different watches, warnings, and advisories. Air quality alerts are still in effect for much of the state as the smoke is moving around in pockets as the winds pick up with these weather systems move through.

Showers and storms will continue moving west to east into the late evening hours clearing out by overnight. Some of these storms will still have severe potential as the Storm Prediction Center has the central and eastern regions under a slight and marginal risk. The largest threat from these storms, as stated earlier, are the damaging winds and flying debris as a result.

There have also been a few instances of small hail as seen on radar. This is all happening from the cold front moving from the west and combining with the stationary front to the north. The two battling pressure systems are causing this very strong wind that are helping to move these storms quickly through the state.

Tomorrow, the chances for showers are on the low side as much of the rain will move out to the east overnight. For low temperatures tonight, we can expect to see average temperatures despite the clouds sticking around. Tomorrow, conditions will be on the cooler side with very breezy winds. We can see temperatures below average with those low 80s and upper 70s around the state.
