Colorado Weather: Cooler temperatures and chance for severe weather Thursday - The Denver Post

If you have been waiting for a cool down, today is the day. After high temperatures have been in the 90s, Denver is expected to see high temperatures only in the mid 80s Thursday as a cold front approaches the region.

While temperatures are supposed to be back toward average today, Denver also has the chance for severe weather.

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Thursday morning. These storms could bring strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

The chance for severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon into the evening. Heavy rainfall, damaging wind, and hail are the main threat with these severe storms. Chances for an isolated tornado also cannot be ruled out.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has included Denver in the Slight risk for severe storms.

The SPC defines a Slight risk as an area of organized severe storms that has varying level of intensity.

Cooler temperatures will stick around through Saturday, and then temperatures will rebound back into the 90s by Sunday.
