Severe weather across multiple states has left residents cleaning up their communities.
Severe weather across multiple states has left residents cleaning up their communities. A southern deluge that dropped several inches of rain in just a few hours and spawned at least three tornadoes has finally dissipated. Rainfall totals of more than 1 inch drenched parts of Florida, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Some schools in Alabama had to start late or went virtual in order to deal with high water. The National Weather Service confirmed that three tornadoes had struck central Alabama and earlier this week in Mississippi, forecasters confirmed 12 tornadoes. From Texas to Virginia, homes have also been damaged by storms and as of yesterday nearly 100,000 people were without power. Crews across multiple states are removing downed trees and debris from roads and bridges.
