Severe Thunderstorm Watch - CBS7 News

WEST TEXAS (KOSA) - A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the following counties until 6 a.m. CDT:

Andrews, Borden, Crane, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Martin, Midland, Mitchell, Pecos, Reagan, Terrell, and Upton.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to spark up across the eastern half of the region this evening.

There is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 6 am Tuesday morning stretching from the lower Trans-Pecos up to the Texas Panhandle. This means that environmental conditions are conducive to the growth of supercells capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, flooding, and tornadoes in the area.

There is also a Flash Flood Watch in effect until Tuesday morning. Monday’s storm system brought 1 to 2 inches of rain across the eastern Permian Basin, so roads may be flooded...remember, turn around, don’t drown!

Make sure you are weather-aware, the best place to be during severe storms is in a sturdy shelter away from windows. During severe storms being in mobile homes, campers, or vehicles are not recommended.
