Severe Storms Across the Southern Plains Saturday - WeatherNation

A dryline and strong daytime heating will contribute to showers and storms this afternoon and evening. Some storms could be severe with hail, winds and tornadoes. Here is the latest forecast for severe storms across the Southern U.S..

Hot temperatures and a dryline in West Texas will be the trigger mechanisms for storms to fire up this afternoon.  These storms will likely be supercells with rotation and a large hail core as the slowly moving through Texas today and tonight.

A large coverage area is under the risk of severe storms today, including a large portion of Texas and New Mexico.  Isolated to scattered severe storms will likely in these areas today. Definitely could see a severe t’storm or a tornado watch issued for these areas later today.

The tornado risk will be confined to the Big Bend of Texas, while the hail and wind potential will be likely from West Texas to the Southern High Plains.

The storms should start up by this afternoon and last through the evening. These storms could stay strong overnight and into the early morning hours for Oklahoma and Arkansas.
