Hot and humid with multiple severe weather chances - WQOW TV News 18

Due to the heavy rain two days ago in eastern Eau Claire county and northern Clark county, a River Flood Warning has been issued for the Eau Claire River at Fall Creek.

The gauge has already measured the river above the 11 foot flood stage, and is expected to crest tonight near 13 feet. At this level, some of the parks and farm land surrounding the river west of Lake Altoona become flooded, and the river currents are fast and dangerous, posing a threat to anyone on or in the river.

That crest near 13 feet means that some of the roads surrounding the river inside the green warning polygon above could flood. At this point, the river is forecast to fall back below flood stage by Saturday morning, but more chances for heavy rain could lead to more flooding.

Today was a comfortable day today with highs in the low 80s and dew points in the 50s, but that starts to change tonight. Dew points will rise into the 60s overnight, and further to the 70s for the weekend.

Highs tomorrow will climb towards the upper 80s, but that could be held lower depending on afternoon thunderstorm development. In the increased heat and humidity along with conducive upper level features, strong thunderstorms will be possible in waves tonight through Sunday. Tonight's risk is on the low side with the strongest storms expected to the northwest.

Tomorrow, Isolated storms will pop up in the evening with the biggest threat still to our west, but a few in our area may become severe.

Friday night into Saturday morning brings the best chances for storms across Western Wisconsin, with straight line wind gusts being the most likely threat, and another round could form Saturday evening with severe threats continuing into Sunday morning before precipitation chances decrease.

The hottest day will be Saturday with highs in the low 90s and dew points very high in the low to mid 70s. This will lead to heat index values, aka feels like temperatures, in the upper 90s to near 100.

It'll still be humid and warm into next week, though conditions will be closer to the mid summer average with highs in the low 80s and dew points near 60.
