There is a slight risk of severe storms for a large area across Texas both Thursday and Friday. A marginal risk has already been issued for Saturday across much of the state.
Here is a timeline of what to expect in the coming days.
Major metro areas including DFW, Austin and San Antonio may see strong to severe storms in the coming days. The primary threats will be very large hail and damaging wind gusts.
Thursday
From late Thursday afternoon into the evening hours, a dryline to the west of I-35 will initiate development of storms. These may become strong to severe and may contain significant hail cores. DFW, Austin and San Antonio will be at a slight risk (level 2 out of 5) of seeing severe storms.
Friday
Friday afternoon and evening bring a similar weather setup. Areas just to the west of the I-35 corridor (not including DFW, Austin and San Antonio) will be under a slight risk of seeing severe storms.
Note that storms that develop in the Dallas, Austin and San Antonio areas may still be strong.
Saturday
Into the first part of the weekend, the threat for severe storms lingers but will be slightly lower. A large area across Texas, including DFW, Austin and San Antonio, will be at a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) of seeing severe storms.
The risk level may change and will be closely monitored for potential threats.
