TODAY: Ridging will bring mostly sunny skies today with highs in the mid to upper 80's. Dew points will be in the 60's and lower 70's, so it'll feel pretty humid. Winds will be out of the S at 5-10 MPH.
OVERNIGHT TONIGHT: A warm front will bring strong to severe storms possible overnight. We'll see storms move into the western portions of our region late tonight into early Saturday morning. Storms will push eastward, reaching Duluth likely between 1-4 AM Saturday morning. These storms have a high threat for strong winds. Other hazards include large hail, heavy downpours, and even a couple tornadoes are possible. The other dangerous part of these storms is the timing. Most people will be sleeping during the action, so HAVE A WAY TO RECEIVE SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS OVERNIGHT. Storms will move out of the region heading into the mid-morning hours on Saturday.
SATURDAY MIDDAY: The northern half of our region should see mostly clear skies for the middle of the day. Highs will be in the upper 80's and lower 90's, with dew points ranging from lower 60's in northern MN to lower 80's in southern portions of our region. This puts some heat indices in the 100°F level. I wouldn't be surprised if the National Weather Service issued some kind of heat advisory for southern portions of our region.
SATURDAY EVENING: A cold front brings a risk for severe weather for the southern half of our region, including Duluth. The main threats include stronger winds, large hail, heavy downpours, and a couple of tornadoes can't be ruled out as well. We eventually settle down heading into the overnight hours.
SUNDAY: Highs will be in the lower 80's with partly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the upper 50's.
NEXT WEEK: We'll see a couple chances of showers and thunderstorms through the first part of the week. Thunderstorms look most likely Tuesday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be closer to our average as well.
