The second virtual public meeting for the Reyes Peak Forest Health and Fuels Reduction Project will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 20, on Adobe Connect, Los Padres National Forest officials have announced.
Community members interested in learning more about the project, which is designed to minimize the impacts from insect and disease infestations as well as wildfires, are uged to participate in the meeting.
The 90-minute session will provide another opportunity for interested parties to hear directly from project managers, ask questions about the project, and offer comments. There will be a brief overview of the project, as well as rationale for why the work is critical for enhancing habitat and forest health.
A third virtual public meeting will be scheduled before the close of the scoping period Aug. 14. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, in-person public meetings could not be safely conducted.
The scoping period was extended to allow for additional public comments from individuals and groups interested in collaborating with the National Forest on the project to protect Pine Mountain and Reyes Peak from the devastating impacts of drought, insect and disease infestation, and catastrophic wildfire.

The public is urged visit the project area to get a better idea of the need to act to protect this landscape from further impacts.
Anyone wishing to participate should log into the virtual public meeting via Adobe Connect to access the audio and video feeds for the meeting. Logging in early is suggested in order to troubleshoot any technical issues; some devices will require you to either download the Adobe Connect Application or additional software before being able to join the meeting.
