Update 5:13 p.m. Tuesday May 11:

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for south central Bexar County until 6 p.m.

Poteet, Elmendorf and Leming are all under a severe thunderstorm warning.  

Update 3:55 p.m. Tuesday May 11:

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for San Antonio until 10 p.m.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible tonight with hail up to the size of a tennis ball size, damaging winds up to 70 mph and/or an isolated tornado. Heavy rainfall could also lead to potential flooding. 

Along with Bexar County, Atascosa, Kendall and Comal counties are all under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Update 1:53 p.m. Tuesday, May 11:

San Antonio is now at a slight risk for severe weather Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. 

The Hill Country is expected to start see storms between 2 and 6 p.m. Areas near Interstate 35 cold see storms between 4 and 10 p.m.

Update 10:36 a.m. Tuesday, May 11:

San Antonio could experience another round of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service. 

As of Tuesday morning, San Antonio is at a marginal risk for severe weather. Any isolated storms that develop have the potential to produce hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall. 

Storms once again will begin forming west of San Antonio and then move east late Tuesday afternoon through the evening. 

Update:

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for San Antonio through 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. 

The main hazards are possible large hail up to 4 inches, damaging winds of up to 70 mph and/or an isolated tornado. 

Storm development will likely begin to the west of U.S. 281 late afternoon through the evening. 

Atascosa, Kendall and Bexar counties are all under a severe thunderstorm watch.

A cold front is moving through South Texas, bringing cooler temperatures and a chance for rain in San Antonio. For much this week, the San Antonio area can expect an active weather pattern with the potential for severe weather Monday through Wednesday.

Any substantial rain would help the region's drought conditions. Despite the recent heavy rainfall, San Antonio is under Stage 2 water restrictions, according to SAWS

Monday (High 86 and Low 72): There is a slight risk for severe weather in the western portions of Bexar County and a marginal risk for the eastern portions Monday afternoon through the evening, according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorm activity will develop near Del Rio this afternoon and thunderstorm clusters could move east near San Antonio. Large hail and damaging winds are a possibilty.

Tuesday (High 82 and Low 67): Shower and thunderstorm activity is possible as the front lingers. Moisture and the humidity will help increase chances for isolated storms in San Antonio, which is at a marginal risk for severe weather on Tuesday.

Wednesday (High 73 and Low 66): San Antonio will begin to experience below-normal temperatures as the cold front sticks around. There is a 30 percent chance for rain earlier in the day. Expect gray skies throughout Wednesday.

Thursday (High 74 and Low 61): Temperatures will be cool and comfortable on Thursday with low humidity and partly cloudy. Winds will be breezy at 15 mph and partly cloudy skies. 

Friday (High 79 and Low 62): Skies will be clear on Friday with afternoon high temps warming up near the 80s. 

Weekend: Temps will warm back up to the mid-80s but a chance for rain will return to the forecast. San Antonio will have a 30 percent chance for showers on both Saturday and Sunday.
