5-Day Nationwide Forecast
Dry weather will prevail over most of India during this week, while feeble circulations continue to produce scattered light rains over Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha till Thursday. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also forecast to receive light rains over the next three days, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Meanwhile, a fresh western disturbance is forecast to produce light to moderate rain or snow across Western Himalayan Region this weekend.
Cold wave conditions are possible in isolated pockets of northern, central and western India for the next several days. The minimum temperature will continue to be in the single digits over the northern half of the subcontinent. As per the IMD, cold to severe cold day conditions (concerning daytime temperatures) are likely in many parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and West Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Accordingly, all these subdivisions are kept under an orange alert (meaning 'be prepared') on Republic Day.
IMD adds that cold to severe cold wave conditions (concerning nighttime temperatures) are expected over Madhya Pradesh during the next 4-5 days, Rajasthan during the next 3-4 days, and Uttar Pradesh from Thursday to Sunday.
Both daytime and nighttime temperatures will be quite higher than normal over much of the Himalayan region least until the first half of February.

- In the morning, dense fog is likely over southwestern Uttar Pradesh, north Punjab, north Rajasthan, Odisha, and southeastern Jammu.
- Cold to severe cold day conditions are likely in many parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and West Madhya Pradesh.
- Cold to severe cold wave conditions are likely over Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.
Thursday
- In the morning, dense fog is possible in some parts of Punjab and Uttarakhand.
- Cold day conditions are likely over Madhya Pradesh.
- Cold to severe cold wave conditions are likely over Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.
