Pressure cooker recalled after reports of severe burns - WRAL News

Severe burns are being blamed on a faulty pressure cooker now under recall.

5 On Your Side reports, according to the recall from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the volume markings on the inner pot of an Insignia pressure cooker are wrong.

The defect can cause users to unknowingly overfill the pots, and hot food and liquid can shoot out of it when the pressure cooker is vented using the quick release method or opened while its contents are pressurized.

There have been 31 reports of that happening, including 17 reports of burn injuries, some of which were second degree and severe burns.

About 930,000 of these were sold at Best Buy and on Amazon.com. Best Buy will replace the faulty parts for you. Call them at 888-359-4485 or go to www.recallrtr.com/pc for step by step instructions.

This recall specifically involves Insignia Multi-Function Pressure Cookers with model numbers NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9, or NS-MC80SS9.

Inner cooker pots with model numbers NS-MCRP6NS9 and NS-MCRP6SS9, sold separately as replacements, are also included.
