Storms should become especially fierce across Nebraska where they could produce 60+ mph winds and large hail.
A cold front draped across the north-central part of the country will lead to two separate areas of impactful weather on Friday.
Rain broke out Thursday night and will continue through the first half of Friday from Nebraska to Minnesota. Rainfall will also be hefty across northern Minnesota, where flash flooding will be possible.
By Friday evening, a new round of intense storms will develop to the west across eastern Montana, Wyoming, the western Dakotas and Nebraska.

Storms should become especially fierce across Nebraska, where they could produce 60-plus-mph winds and large hail.
"Damaging winds are likely," FOX Weather meteorologist Britta Merwin said. "Unlike yesterday, we have the parameters in place that we could see some large hail. The thunderstorms yesterday were mainly about the gusty winds, but there's more instability in the atmosphere present today and that means a higher chance of being impacted by these conditions."
Lightning is also likely with the storms, Merwin added.
"And today we have increased the tornado threat. Yesterday, it was rather minimal, but today, an isolated tornado not out of the question," she said. "So make sure that before you go to bed tonight that you park your cars underneath the carport or in the garage, if that is an option in Nebraska."
The rain and storms will shift east on Saturday with another round of severe weather from southern Minnesota to eastern Kansas. Strong, 60-plus mph wind gusts will be the primary threat.

FALL IS THE SECOND SEVERE WEATHER SEASON
More rain and thunderstorms are expected on Sunday across the Upper Midwest. Some of the storms could again be severe, packing a hail and wind damage threat.
Isolated instances of flash flooding are also possible through the weekend in the central Plains and Upper Midwest due to the repeated rounds of rain.
