Fire managers say Cameron Peak Fire is now completely controlled - Loveland Reporter-Herald

More than a month since being called 100% contained, the Cameron Peak Fire has been declared controlled.

According to a Facebook post from the Cameron Peak Fire team, fire managers called the Cameron Peak Fire controlled, meaning that the fire is extinguished.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, a contained fire means when the control line for the main fire and any spot fires is completed and crews have confidence the lines surrounding the fire will hold it in. When a wildfire is controlled it means the fire is out within the perimeter of the containment line with no more hot spots or areas actively burning.

The Cameron Peak Fire, which ignited in August, burned for close to four months; in the process the blaze reached 208,913 acres, becoming the largest wildfire in Colorado history, and destroyed over 400 buildings.
