The effects of Hurricane Delta will only increase as it makes landfall in western Louisiana, later this Friday evening. Rain showers will continue through the morning hours, for many of us in the viewing area. Expect a quick break from the rain in the early afternoon hours, before more showers and isolated thunderstorms move into the area through the evening hours. Highs today and through the weekend will stay in the upper 70s and lower 80s. The low temperatures will only drop into the upper 60s to near 70 for the rest of the weekend. Hurricane Deltas’ rain bands will move closer to our area on Saturday and provide the area with a marginal risk for severe weather, Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Isolated brief tornadoes and a couple damaging wind gusts can’t be ruled out. Make sure you have a backup plan for any outdoor activities this weekend.
Have a Weather Safety Plan for Saturday and Sunday if any warnings are issued for your area. Stay tuned to WLTZ First Weather for frequent updates.
