STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – City and state agencies have begun work to alleviate the persistent and damaging flooding that occurs on a service road alongside the Staten Island Expressway in Meiers Corners.
Sheraden Avenue -- a block off South Gannon Avenue alongside the expressway -- floods so severely after periods of heavy rain that water travels halfway up the block and dumps more than 1-foot of water into residents’ homes.
